About The Tee Times

Welcome to The Tee Times, a sub-par publication dedicated to covering golf with all the seriousness it probably doesn’t deserve and all the rigour we can confidently maintain until that cash we got from the Saudis dries up post-LIV.

Founded by Dan, a former golf professional whose career is best described as “existent” — and Trent, a once highly visible sports journalist who now enjoys a more contemplative relationship with public life. The Tee Times exists to report on the game as there seems to be a total lack of golf content anywhere on the internet.

Dan brings firsthand experience from competitive golf’s outer orbit of the inner-circle. Having spent years chasing leaderboards, sponsorships, and frivolous lawsuits. Dan offers insightful shallow insights shaped by lived experience and selective recollection. His swing thoughts remain complex, evolving, and largely unhelpful, which makes him particularly well suited to analysing the professional game from a safe distance.

Trent, meanwhile, contributes an editorial sensibility honed over years in Australian sports media, where deadlines were tight, scrutiny was tighter, and decisions were sometimes made. Not always decisions that were deemed appropriate by the public, but decisions, nonetheless. His perspective is informed by a moderate understanding of how stories are told, how narratives are constructed, and how best to avoid answering follow-up questions.

Together, they set out to provide coverage that sits somewhere between informed commentary and committed observation. From tournament recaps that may or may not include the winner, to equipment reviews based primarily on appearance and whether the vendors invoice has cleared, The Tee Times fills a space in the golf media landscape that most outlets have chosen, perhaps wisely, to avoid.

We pride ourselves on:

  • Reporting that rarely gets in the way of the truth
  • Analysis that prioritises confidence and controversy over correctness
  • A firm commitment to publishing, even when better judgment suggests otherwise

Our mission is simple: to keep golf in perspective, or at least gently nudge it in that direction.

Whether you’re here for the hot takes, the cold truth, or just doing your follow-up work as a defamation lawyer, we’re glad you found us.

We may not improve your game, but we are the only golf news site that tells you how it is.
